Just thought I
would put it out there, if anyone who is reading this has any interest in using
video games to support literacy in the classroom, I would love to chat with
you. I have always loved video
games throughout my life, from the Commodore 64, to the various Nintendo
systems, up to the PS3 now and I really want to look into ways to use children’s
interest and abilities with this to boost their literacy skills. I have a few ideas and am sure there
are a lot of things you can do with this and would love any suggestions. Look forward to hearing from you.
Well, let's hope you get some takers. James Gee has a book out on what all can be learned by playing video games. He argues that video games are better teachers than teachers! While he makes several other really valid points, this one bugs me a little.
